The study of bioindicators

The study of bioindicators represents an extension of the use of indexes of quality that consists in a more in-depth analysis of the ecological relationships between the populations of a community (feeding, competition, ecological necessity, habitat availability) to reveal possible alterations due to human impact.

This method can also be applied to systematic groups for which specific quality indexes haven't been elaborated (amphibians, reptiles, crustaceans).
